GRANTS & INCENTIVES

Target Business Grants

Funding for this grant has been made possible by Green Mountain Power (GMP). This is a 50/50 matching grant. The first $10,000 grant will be open and available from July 1-Dec 31. The second grant will be open and available from January 1-June 30. If no grant is awarded in the 1st period, the funds will roll over into the second grant period. If no grants are awarded the funds will remain in the GMP account. Each grant will be awarded to a property owner fitting within the following bulleted criteria who will also invest a minimum of ten thousand dollars of their own capital. Funds will be paid upon completion of each project.

  • Property owner is renovating space to recruit new business.
  • Property owner is renovating space to add to Market Rate housing subsequently increasing market rate housing inventory within downtown.
  • Property owner is renovating space for expansion of an existing business subsequently adding to property value and/or increasing job opportunities downtown.

Downtown Rutland Micro-Business Grant Program:

This program aims to help existing businesses make capital improvements, such as equipment, fixtures, physical space and facade. These are competitive grants with limited funds to be awarded. Download the Micro Business Grant Application.

 

Small Business Start-up Grants:

The Small Business Start-up grants aims to help new small businesses open their doors in Downtown Rutland. This program fills the need of helping new businesses that are not necessarily on our “target business recruitment” list. Downtown and Village Tax Credits:

Downtown Rutland is one of 23 Designated Downtowns in the state of Vermont. As a result, property owners may qualify for tax credits in order to improve their property. Find out more.
