Michael Divoll encouraged me to submit a design proposal to All Aboard Rutland, which was an exciting prospect for me as an emerging artist. My design is based on the feeling I always get when I'm on my way home from being away for any length of time — I can breathe better, my stress level goes way down, I look forward to my first sight of the mountains around Rutland. Turning those feelings into a poem or a series of connected thoughts led to memories of what I anticipated as a child and my experiences with train travel, and so the idea of a collage was born.
