I feel that I had a
very special inspiration to be involved in this
project. My father worked for the Rutland Railroad
when I was born, so when I saw the advertisement
in the paper about the trains, I felt as if I just
had to be part of this project. My father’s
hard work and dedication to his family was certainly
the drive. It is my way to commemorate him and let
my creative energy flow. My train, named Rutland
Rails, has a coal train on one side and an Amtrak
train on the other side, showing the evolution and
usage of the train system in Rutland. Rutland city’s
skyline is the backdrop for the train. I chose the
patriotic colors to celebrate Rutland’s past
and Rutland’s future and their part of train
history in America.
I hope you enjoy the train’s spirit. I would
like to thank my husband Larry for all of the love
and support he has given me in the past three months
while I was working on the train, and he was going
without a dining room as the dining room was the
train’s parking spot! I would also like to
thank all of my family and friends for their confidence
in my artistic abilities to create and complete
this project. I would also like to thank my friend
Paula Strusinski for giving me the courage to start
this project and the Downtown Rutland Partnership
for organizing the project. Lastly, and very importantly,
I would like to thank Godnicks Grand Furniture for
sponsoring me.
